The Light From A Million, Million Year Old Stars

I used to be

An astronomer.

I'd look upwards,

Nightly,

And gaze into

The heavens.

I note

The passage

Of the moons

Of Jupiter.

I'd see the shadows cast

On craters

On the crescent

Lunar surface.

I'd train my instruments

Towards Orion's Belt,

See the splendour of

The nebula M42.

I could trace the path of

The Milky Way,

And beyond,

I'd make out other

Galaxies.

So far, far away...

"You never look at the sky anymore."

She said.

Why would I want to,

When my universe

Is

You.
