Halloween

It's Halloween,

And outside, the city,

Sounds like downtown Aleppo,

As it will for the next week now.

I spent the weekend

Dressed as a murderer.

Fictional, of course.

I spent today

Slicing up fruit,

To take photos,

To sell blenders.

I spent tonight,

Halloween,

Amidst a whirlwind of words,

Hoping the last left over swallow

Of bourbon,

From weekend,

Would make them settle,

And make sense.

I'm still waiting.

Maybe I should

Have spent Halloween

Dressed as a thesaurus.
